The CanadaGAP food safety program is designed for companies that handle fresh produce operations such as a fruits and vegetables. It focuses on implementation and maintenance on food safety procedures. CanadaGAP has two manuals, one for greenhouse operations, and the second for other fruit and vegetables operations. CanadaGAP was designed by the horticultural industry and reviewed for technical soundness by Canadian government officials. The manuals have been designed for companies that work to implement Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) in their production, packing, and storage operations. It is also designed for repackers and wholesalers implementing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP programs. The program is also designed for fresh produce brokers implementing best practices in supplier management and product traceability. The CanadaGAP program is also GFSI-certified.
